First Youth Group Joins Innovation Centre
We started simply dreaming of improving how a team of nutritionists, M&E and social workers could pool own resources to create self employment. Today we are glad to have registered an international agency to help youth to dream, hold their hopes high, get their ideas empowered and transformed to accelerate social change.

Trevor believes that the balance between offline and online activities is quite powerful, “the meetup provides an opportunity to bring together energy and brilliance of designers in a way that cannot be replicated online. The online platform allows me to follow the challenge and contribute to its evolution on a day to day basis.”

Tell me and I'll forget · Show me and I'll remember · Involve me and I'll understand "One Day Experience" is an online platform that allows young people to connect with professionals working in fields that match their interests and passions, and join these professionals for a hands on experience of their jobs for One Day.

I'm happy to report that the first Preflight challenge has been completed! OpenIDEO community member Jeanne Callahan visited the high-school journalism class I’m taking and hosted a challenge focused on marketing her husband’s small business. Overall, the project was a great success and I am hopeful that we can build momentum and expand into more schools. Check out some pictures in the gallery!

Our goal is help youth to dream, hold their hopes high, get their ideas empowered and transformed to accelerate social change in Uganda.

I want to thank the OpenIDEO Team for their insightful comments during the Refinement phase of the Bridge Project idea. This challenge process helped me to have a better view of goals for creating impact in my community. With my HR background, this challenge allowed me to see things in a different perspective. I have always been in the position of interviewers. The challenge somehow put me in the shoes of youths seeking employment.

In general, Millennials are tech savvy, purpose driven, and facing a tough employment market. Many nonprofits are underutilizing social media and other technology resources. Millennial TechCorps addresses both issues by placing young adults in one-year paid internships with non-profits and other purpose-driven organizations to work on technology initiatives. We welcome all help from individuals, organizations, Open IDEO groups and others interested in making this promising idea a reality.

This challenge has given me an incredible opportunity to validate an existing idea. Thanks to OpenIDEO's community collaboration, I was able to evolve my previous thinking into a solution that is poised for implementation with experienced partners. We are really excited about the potential impact of this project on a world that desperately needs an intervention for job creation.

What an experience! Participating in the youth employment challenge has helped me grow, learn about my passions and work with incredible people. The community has pushed this idea forward, and I've loved turning an abstract idea into a concrete plan. I'm excited to keep moving forward and start implementing Preflight in schools!
