A Communication and Control System for people with complex physical disabilities. It enables user to communicate using only the movement of eyes. It is being used to write books, attend school and enhance the quality of life of people with disabilities.

A video camera focuses on the pupil of the user's eye, tracking its movement. To "press" a key on the screen, the user looks at the key for a specified time, prompting the computer to take the appropriate action. This assistive technology enables people to use their eyes to operate a computer and access the Internet and e-mail, communicate, operate a telephone, a person can synthesize speech, control his environment (lights, appliances, etc.).

"Its users include people with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)/ Motor Neurone Disease (MND), brain injuries, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, spinal cord injuries, spinal muscular atrophy, strokes and Werdnig–Hoffman syndrome."

Below is the link of Steve’s blog in which he makes entry using his eyegaze computer:

Can we use and implement this assistive technology as a tool to make our elections more accessible to everyone?

Fab inspiration Ashutosh! Makes me think about Dominic's Natural User Interfaces post too http://bit.ly/zy4aFW. Perhaps you want to connect it to your post using the Build Upon feature? This helps us all join the dots between related inspirations and will show up on your Collaboration Map for this post. Plus you'll get more DQ points! If you hit the Update button on the right of your post you can go in and add that post using the Build Upon feature.

And clearly, after checking out all of your great builds on the right, you're a pro when it comes to connecting your post to others! Keep it up! :)

Thanks for the link Ashley!!:)
I was bit confused about how to use "Build Upon" feature. But I got slight idea by seeing other posts and later I tried connecting as many inspirations as possible. I hope, it will be helpful for all of us during different phases of this challenge.:)

Absolutely! As you get the hang of OpenIDEO, you might also want to check out our User Forums https://openideo.zendesk.com/forums – there are some great tips and tricks for how to do things, including building upon other posts http://bit.ly/xrBP2z.
